Many people are not completely thrilled with how they look. They wish they were taller, had better facial features, and, above all things, they wish that they were thinner. So, people start out by going to the gym, and eating healthier. However, these people still often have the extra few pounds that just won’t go away.
So, these people sometimes turn to procedures that can help them lose weight, like Lipodissolve. This procedure took the European world by storm in the 1980s, and is just now coming into prominence within the United States. However, it is important to note that the Lipodissolve procedure has not yet been certified by the FDA it is in the process of being studied and reviewed to make sure that it is completely safe.
Safety is, in fact, one of the things that concerns people about Lipodissolve. Specifically, it is a process in which a shot of a chemical is injected directly into the fat to make it go away. Only local anesthesia is required, and the patient can return to his or her regular activities within a couple of days after the procedure.
Lipodissolve sounds almost too good to be true, and in some cases, that is exactly what it has been. The problem basically lies within the fact that since it does not yet have that “stamp of approval” from the FDA, so the kinds of doctors who are allowed to perform this procedure has not been regulated yet, either.
Therein lies the problem that if a dermatologist with pretty much no experience in this kind of procedure does the procedure, then that’s when the side effects start happening. Before the procedure, it is very important for the doctor to test for any allergies to the chemicals used in the injection serum. If this is not done, then there could be serious side effects for the patient.
One of the things that people like about this procedure is that it can not only liquefy the fat (where it goes, no one knows!), but it can actually tighten the skin too. This is because the injection stimulates the production of collagen, which in turn gives the skin that nice firm look.
So, what are the additional risks involved with this procedure? Some people have reported there being incidents of bumps underneath the skin at the injection site. This is just the tissue reacting to the reduced fat, and it should go away quickly. However, there have been additional reports of people having swelling, rashes, and infection.
Sometimes, too, people become disheartened because they cannot see results right away. This is one of the downsides to this procedure. Since the body takes time to adjust to the fat moving away from its original source, it can take up to a year before people can really start seeing results. If people want to see more immediate results, they should instead think of choosing a procedure like liposuction. Whichever manner they choose, it is important to properly prepared.
